Our faculty's Plant Protection Department 2nd year students organized a trip to the Forest Nursery affiliated to Bolu Forest Management Directorate with the support of Forestry Regional Deputy Director Mr. Halis BELEN in order to transfer theoretical knowledge into practice and to observe the production processes on site within the scope of the Covered Cultivation course taught by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kenan GEÇER.
With the interested, cheerful and detailed presentation of Bolu Forest Nursery Manager Ms. Neslihan BEDİR, our students; After the introduction of the nursery facility, they received detailed information about seed extraction from cones and seed production processes, seed storage, seed stratification, preparation of growing medium, seed germination, tube seedling production, seedling production plots, species grown, production techniques of coniferous and broad-leaved forest species, areas of use and purposes. In addition, information was provided about the sapling and ornamental plant production greenhouse, cutting production in the greenhouse and technical details about the greenhouse.
The tour ended after the refreshments of Nursery Manager Ms. Neslihan BEDİR to our students and a souvenir photo was taken.
