The session, which took place on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the BAİBÜ Congress Center (Green Hall C, Gölköy Campus), was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mustafa İmren, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. The event, which drew significant interest from academics, students, and industry representatives, featured expert discussions that explored the future of agriculture and the measures to be taken against climate change from a multidimensional perspective. "The first speaker of the session, Assoc. Following this, Prof. Dr. Umut Toprak from the Department of Plant Protection at Ankara University’s Faculty of Agriculture took the floor to address the topic, 'Plant Protection Must Evolve with a Changing Climate: Sustainable Agriculture through Biological and Molecular Technologies,' explaining how agricultural pest and disease management must adapt to shifting climatic conditions.
Representing the private sector perspective, Can Akdeniz—R&D Manager for Plant Protection (Turkey, Africa, and the Middle East) at Syngenta—discussed the future vision for agriculture and innovative industry solutions under the theme, 'Future Challenges in Agriculture: Higher Yields, Lower Impact.' Finally, Prof. Dr. Veysel Ayhan, Head of the Department of International Politics, examined the sociological and demographic dimensions of the issue by addressing 'Environment, Climate, and Mass Population Movement,' providing a compelling analysis of the societal impacts of the climate crisis."
